2012 - 5th August Goodrich CC v The VCC cricket match

Jonty at last meets Sam Griffiths, fixture secretary of The Goodrich Cricket Club in the UK. This match was arranged as a result of Sam’s visit to Liwa Primary School in Gugulethu, Cape Town in February 2010 to volunteer to help in the school for several weeks during a gap year in his studies.. We owe our thanks to him for all the help he provided to the children and staff during his work at Liwa.

“Dear Jonty and Maria … thank you once again for the opportunity and the experience. It was truly the best one of my life … Best regards Sam”

The HK Taveners being fined !

At the end of the final match of The VCC’s Far East Cricket tour in 2008, having beaten Hong Kong Taveners at the famous Hong Kong Cricket Club, the losing side made a generous donation to Townshiphelp by fining their players for poor performance on the field and for just about anything else off it !!

We would like to thank George Lamplough, Captain of the Hong Kong Taveners, for his teams generous efforts in supporting our project by the fines imposed on his players. It was a most sincere gesture of goodwill and one that will be much appreciated by all those who will directly benefit.” …Jonty Savitt

The VCC being fined !

The VCC cricket club also agreed to fine their players and in addition contribute half of their “winnings” during their visit to the Happy Valley race course in Hong Kong during their Far East Cricket Tour. In excess of £600 was rasied and generously offered to Townshiphelp.
