We have already completed the construction of a three bedroomed bungalow which provides permanent accommodation for 4 to 6 abandoned children. The total cost was 96,000 rand with Townshiphelp investment being 40,000 Rand. The balance was met by the Masakhane Peoples Housing association.
An additional 20,000 rand has been donated by us to furnish the house and supply all internal requirements and materials. Orphanage & local housing reconstruction has now been completed.
Nursing is required for the children to help stimulate them together with ongoing support for feeding programs.
Since our first visit in February 2004 Liwa Primary School has been an ongoing project of development on behalf of the staff and the intake of approximately 400 primary school children. This is best seen by visiting the separate website we have constructed on behalf of the school at www.liwaprimaryschool.net.
The total combined investment has been in excess of 1m Rand. Townshiphelp have donated in excess of 400,000 rand over the past 5 years combined with welcome additional assistance from Khanya - The Western Cape Technology Education scheme and The Peninsula School Feeding Association as part of a Private/Public partnership agreement that we encouraged them to consider.
They have supported the projects with an additional 600,000 Rand and on an ongoing basis to date.
Between 2004 and 2007 Townshiphelp provided 75,000 Rand to Rondebosch Rotary Club in supporting their efforts in the purchasing of high powered TB Microscopes for use in mobile medical vehicles that visit townships dealing with in particular TB and HIV cases.
Townshiphelp projects are not exclusive to South Africa and we welcome any enquiries from those who may seek our advice or assistance.
